My Rating ~ 4 bites

Ryder Duncan is a guest of Genesis. And by guest I mean he’s a prisoner, being used for experiments by sadistic Richard Wyatt. But he’s not the only prisoner. Wyatt has many paranormals he’s torturing and experimenting on trying to find a way to make a perfect soldier for the government who backs him, but also to find a cure for himself. Wyatt believes he’s found the key and her name is Sabine Acadia. Tossing her into the cell with Ryder is the first wrong step Wyatt makes. Because while Ryder had escape and wide spread death in mind, now he intends to take Sabine with him. He will have his revenge no matter what it costs.

I will state upfront that while I loved book 1 in this trilogy, I was not so enamored of this one. After not really being taken with Ryder in book 1, I came to love him here as his personality and back story filled him out. He’s powerful, strong, ruthless. And sexy. But Sabine irritated me quite a lot. She took way too long to accept that she was never human and whined far too much for my tastes. Bitch, please. How much more shit do you need to go through? And don’t get me started on the stupid shit she does. Ugh. The plot tended to drag on for a bit too much but overall I love the differentness of things, most especially the phoenix angle. And I have to say, I really don’t like Dante, so I have no idea how I’m going to feel about book 3. But Cassie, now, she is interesting. We’ll see.
